The Skill of Telepathy:
Telepathic communication is the main mode of communication between you and another being. Telepathy, is the art of mentally communicating, and sharing ideas, thoughts and even experiences together. Some people are born with the ability and some must learn how to use it. Telepathy is a very efficient mode of communication, more efficient than using devices that require energy to bring results. Consider that the main mode of communication will be telepathically; this is the easiest barrier for a being to cross and the best way to communicate.

The Skill of Empathy
Skills of empathy will help in summoning for a few reasons in general. A summoner, who goes about summoning by creating a mask of an emotion to attract a demon's energy will use empathy to create a connection with this being. The skill of both sending and receiving empathy will help in attracting the right kind of forces for what you are trying to accomplish. Having the ability to both send and read emotion will enable you to add another layer of communication and experience to your summoning skills. Also, by having an understanding of empathy, it brings you to a greater understanding of metaphysical energy in general. It also, enables you to maintain and protect your own psyche and keep your (emotional) self in check when working with powerful forces. Many beings will try to get at you from many different angles, and you must have an understanding of your inner self, to be able to maintain control when the time comes. Know thyself.

So, with telepathy and empathy there are a variety of choices and methods to use for summoning. Of course, there are other skills that will help you along as well
Divination
Having a skill of divination will enable you to look into future events, and relate them to information that you have gathered from spiritual beings. You can use tarot or scrying to verify events and make sure that you are getting what you want. Gain a useful skill in being able to scry, or read tarot. Having a skill like this is yet another option to increasing your opportunities. Any spirit, that works with a person who has a skill for divination, will of course, react in a different way than if the spirit were collaborating with someone who just took the spirit's actions on faith. Sometimes divination is combined with path workings, as well. Path working with tarot or something similar, allows for self-growth through discovery. Astral sight/vision or sense
You will use your astral senses during summonings. It is not unusual or rare, to feel and sense things with your metaphysical senses. You might feel, or see the room change with your astral vision. You might see the shape or form of a being with your 3rd eye. This is the method, of being able to see things on the astral, to use the astral senses. You have to spend time training yourself, to see the difference between your conscious mind, your subconscious and your astral senses, because they are each individual areas that all work together to give you that experience.
