This book helps you to simplify your magic practices and allows you to use magick in a personal way so that you can tailor your results according to what you need. Chaos Magick strips the art of magick down to its bare essentials so it is useful in our modern world. Many people have found this book to be an easy to read, practical guide to the art of Chaos Magick.
If you have never worked with Chaos Magick before this book would be excellent for those that want to try and see if the path of Chaos Magick is right for you. This book teaches you a method of emotional crafting and gnosis, by helping you to change your world view in a spiritual but non-religious way so you can understand how magic works. The Master Works of Chaos Magic will teach you to raise the energy of the universe and use it in a constructive way. Learn how to work with thoughtforms and sex magick to achieve results through the use of sigils, and create personal servitors that can help you in business, personal life, relationships or your own creativity. Blackthorne has remastered the method of sigil working and contacting spirits in a new way to aid you in your magical workings.
The author Adam Blackthorne states: “Chaos magick can be the beginning of magick, the first magick you try, where you sense the potential of the occult. Chaos magic can be something you come to later in life, to help you break through dogma and try new magickal technology”
This book takes you on a path of inner exploration with rituals, symbolic meanings, the psyche and magic. While it is a book aimed at a Wiccan or Pagan audience it is useful for those on the Left Hand Path who are looking for a guide to understanding the dark side of the psyche. The dark side of the psyche holds secrets that could help you to reach personal enlightenment, and for a full understanding of magic it should be explored. This book and the exercises within helps the reader to understand the shadow self and to use it in a beneficial way.
Through this book you will be guided on Jungian analysis, focusing on the works of Joseph Campbell, allowing you to use ancient mythology as a basis for understanding the subconscious. This book also focuses on the archetypes of the Sage and Crone, who are seen as the wise and older and darker aspects of spirituality. In focusing on these figures, you can allow yourself to explore the darker side of your psyche.
There are journal exercises, guided meditations and craft projects to help you to connect to your inner spirit. Dark Moon Mysteries is an interesting book for those that are new to spirituality who want to understand that we as humans, have a dark side, and we can use it in a spiritual way for self empowerment.
A Quote from the author, Timothy Roderick, states: “The journey into the dark can help you to reconstruct and complete your power as a human being, as a mixture of both positive and negative, constructive and destructive, active and passive power…The real work of journeying into the dark involves looking inward and discovering your own voice, your own guidance, and your own power.”
Experience the hysteria of the 1980’s when society was saturated with Satanism’s supposed influence. From TV to radio to print there were warnings that a secret underground society of Satanists were coming after you and your children. Follow the stories of the people who started this panic, from the religious right who claimed that Satan was around every corner in pop culture, in movies, television and even home computers – to average people forced to confess to horrific scenarios brought about through recovered memory syndrome.
Understanding this era of Satanism is important because the attitudes and feelings and false news stories that came with this social and moral panic still affect us today. This book is a historical look at this dark time in America, with essays and interviews by 20 different writers who were involved with the Satanic panic scene. Included are photographs and case stories from other sources that were labeled as Satanic, such as Thee Temple ov Psychick Youth (an underground chaos magic association) and serial killer Ricky Kasso who claimed to be a Satanist, filling a role that was made for him in his infamy.
This book serves as a cautionary tale on how even in our modern time, panic and fear can influence a society in negative ways that are lasting. Many of the attitudes and misinterpretations of Satanism came from this era. If you are interested in learning about the history of Satanism, Satanic Panic: Pop-Cultural Paranoia in the 1980s would make a useful addition to your library.
Aleister Crowley, Lady Frieda Harris’ Tarot project was the Thoth Tarot deck. This deck is a 78 card, full color deck, perfect for those who are fans of Aleister Crowley’s work, or those who are experienced with Tarot who are looking to expand their knowledge and experience of Tarot reading. This is the large (3.75 x 5.5) format.
These cards are suited for not just reading material situations, but for a deeper purpose of ritual and meditative work. I enjoy using this deck for personal rituals, where I use the Invocation of the Holy Guardian Angel from the Book of Thoth, and then draw one card to be used for meditation on spiritual matters
The Thoth Tarot was painted by Lady Frieda Harris under instruction from Aleister Crowley. Crowley named this deck the Book of Thoth and included an instructional book by the same name. The creation of the deck spanned 5 years between the research and re-working of the deck and it’s beautiful imagery gathered from his personal experiences in the occult.
Of course, the deck comes with it’s own ‘little white book’ that helps you to understand the cards. The companion book, “The Book of Thoth: A Short Essay on the Tarot of the Egyptians, Being the Equinox Volume III No. V” written by Crowley is the deck’s companion book and should be referred to in order to understand the meanings. But, this deck was best interpreted by Lon Milo DuQuette, in his book, Understanding Aleister Crowley’s Thoth Tarot, providing updated information and clarity to those that want to understand this deck to it’s fullest. While Crowley was in a class of his own among other occultists, DuQuette in his own wisdom provides a clear and concise interpretation of this deck that will offer you so much more than just the Thoth book alone. This classic deck is a wonderful addition for any serious student of the Occult.
Magic Servitors are spiritual beings that are created by the magician to serve a specific purpose – to aid the magician in the creation of magic. Magic is used to direct change in accordance with the magicians will and it can do many things for you. From attracting love luck and money, to creating inspiration within you or others, and even repelling the things that you want to end.
This book teaches you how to create and work with servitors so that you can make the most of your magical practice. It is designed for the beginner in mind but even experienced occultists can find some wisdom and inspiration within it’s pages.
Some of the things that this book teaches are how to grow and change your servitor to fit your needs as the situation warrants, how to create a servitor for beneficial self-development that will help you to end or create new habits, and how to work with servitors that can influence other people and bend them to your will. you can even create a servitor that can help you to gain clarity in situations, or one that leads you to material reward.
This book is a welcome addition to any modern magicians library, especially those that enjoy working with the eclectic style of chaos magic, a more modernized version of magic that is easy to implement in everyday life. This is especially true if you are looking for simple, effective results in magic.
Author Damon Brand states, “With the secrets of practical magick, you create your life according to your true will. There is no higher magick than the magick that brings results.”
An excellent book to use in your own personal research is the Encyclopedia of Demons and Demonology. This book explores the dark folklores and religions of the world, with a non-christian view on demons and demonology. Some of the topics covered are demonic histories, cases of possession, demons in popular culture, and demons from religious traditions.
Encyclopedia of Demons and Demonology contains hundreds of entries from a-z with suggested areas of further reading, and 80 black and white photos on demons, reaching from the past into the present. The historical backgrounds are discussed along with their powers and abilities and their roles in our lives. This book also deals with famous cases of possession, discussing various ways to protect from their harm.
As recommended by several readers, it is not the kind of book to get if you are a beginner as the topics that are covered assume that you have some basic occult knowledge to begin with. In all, it is still a good reference to have on hand for your library. I have enjoyed reading this book from time to time throughout the years.
One happy reviewer stated: “This book really goes into fantastic detail about demons, demonology, the devil, and way way more. I love this book and recommend it to anybody looking for information on this topic, this book is exquisite and very well written. I’m looking forward to reading the other books by this author and exploring all the topics they’ve written about. Overall, fantastic!”

Gavin Baddeley states in the introduction: ”..Satanism is neither trivial nor tainted with some moral radiation that it makes it too dangerous to contemplate. Inasmuch as the Western world is still a Christian culture, Satanism is the archetypal counterculture. It’s a vital but neglected aspect of our past, present and – most importantly our future.”

One of my favorite documentaries of all time is the Occult Experience. Produced in 1989, it shows an array of people involved in occult activities. Among these are Anton LaVey, leader of the Church of Satan from his earlier “Satanis” production, and Michael Aquino and his wife, Lilith, both leaders of the Temple of Set. I like that Satanism was included in this documentary with a straightforward angle, actually getting interviews with the people involved in Satanism and Witchcraft.
This documentary also explores witchcraft with Selena Fox doing an outdoor ritual with her coven. Then they move on to the path of Alexandrian Witchcraft, with a special appearance by the King of the Witches, Alex Sanders in a revealing skyclad ritual. The path of Dianic Wicca is also explored with Z Budapest, a feminist witch. These paths are discussed showing what it is like for a solitary practitioner or in a group setting, for one who belongs to a coven.
In combination with all of this the fantasy artist H R Geiger’s work is discussed with the artist himself. It’s a short documentary packed with information about how Occultism thrived during that era. It’s definitely worth a watch just to see what occultists do. This is a delightful documentary! Below is a preview of this wonderful documentary. Unfortunately this item is only available as a VHS at Amazon. Hopefully someday they will reissue it as a DVD.
