Aviation Safety Manager – Grand Prairie, TX Airbus Helicopters, Inc. is seeking a full‑time Aviation Safety Manager to join the Aviation Safety Department at our Grand Prairie, Texas site. In this exempt role, you will report directly to the Director, Safety Programs North America and lead all aspects of the aviation safety functions for the site. Responsibilities Serve as the Grand Prairie, Texas site focal point for aviation safety matters and safety promotion activities. Collaborate with process owners of aviation production, maintenance, and flight operations to promote hazard identification and safety ownership. Maintain the safety reporting system, handle investigation of aviation hazards and incidents, and initiate containment and corrective actions. Lead the site’s Safety Risk Management activities under SMS, including development plan and organizational change activities. Monitor and evaluate the results of implemented corrective actions, ensuring that feedback loops and control measures are effective. Engage in continuous feedback and communication for all safety report submitters. Develop and review safety communications and promotional material to support the company’s safety culture. Maintain the site’s flight line safety program, including development of policy and procedures, providing training, coordination of access control and representation to the flightline steering committee. Participate in Flight Test development Pre‑Type Inspection Authorization meetings and Safety Review Boards to identify and mitigate flight risks. Represent Aviation Safety at operational departmental meetings to raise awareness of safety hazards, initiatives, and other safety information. Run the site’s Emergency Response Plan (ERP) Everbridge Notification system. Collaborate in the development and implementation of AHNA’s Safety Management System (SMS). Organize and facilitate the Safety Action Group (SAG) for the Grand Prairie site and, where needed, raise risk to the Safety Review Board (SRB). Manage the facilities ERP for aircraft accidents. Facilitate Safety Risk Management activities with collaborators to identify, assess, analyze, and mitigate aviation safety risks. Provide accurate and timely delivery of required safety information, including monthly and quarterly summary reports, as well as ad hoc queries. Provide weekly/monthly management reports on safety goals and objectives as required. Develop, deliver and maintain SMS training and ensure employees possess the competencies appropriate to their role. Participate and provide technical expertise regarding aviation accident investigations as requested. Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in aviation, safety or a related field; or equivalent experience (4 years). Five (5)+ years of experience in aviation safety and/or helicopter maintenance/flight operations. Broad knowledge of aviation safety programs, technical publications, aircraft systems, helicopter aerodynamic principles, FAA operational and safety management regulations, and other fields relating to conduct of flight programs. Proficiency in G‑Suite or similar software. Training in Safety Management System or similar qualifications. Seven (7)+ years of experience in flight operations, aircraft maintenance, and/or safety. Experience in accident investigation. Knowledge of Human Factors. Root cause analysis (e.g., Taproot, Bowtie, SHELL). Organizational Change principles. FAA commercial/instrument pilot or equivalent with rotorcraft‑helicopter rating and/or A&P certificate. Proficiency in Smartsheet. Technical working knowledge of Flight Data Monitoring systems with associated software. Technical knowledge of Helicopter Usage and Monitoring Systems (HUMS). Additional Requirements Travel: 10% domestic and international. Citizenship: U.S. Person under ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen, green card holder or person covered under our existing ITAR license). Physical requirements: 90% onsite, vision, hearing, speaking, equipment operation, carrying up to 10lbs, lifting up to 10lbs, pushing/pulling small office furniture, sitting, squatting/kneeling, standing, travel, walking, and PPE requirements including steel‑toed shoes.
