Your Role & The Opportunity As the Design Manager , you will report to the Integrated Industrial Design Market Leader. You will join the firm at our Charlotte, NC office and lead projects from design kick-off through construction to successful completion within our Integrated Industrial Design market. Your work will require you to have highly developed expertise in multi-discipline design coordination, project management, all phases of architectural design, and project management software knowledge. This management-level role provides the opportunity to pursue professional growth. The Role Priorities Collaborate internally, and with our design consulting partners (civil, structural, process, MEP, etc.), to lead multi-discipline design teams through each project phase ensuring coordination and project technical correctness. Understand and lead successful delivery of projects in accordance with contracted scope of work, deliverables, schedule, and fees. Lead preparation, ensure Team readiness, and execution of project kick-off meetings, design progress workshops, weekly A/E Team meetings, formal design reviews, etc. with multi-discipline projects teams, clients, equipment suppliers, and contracting partners to meet the business needs of our clients. Ensure all design documentation is executed in accordance with BHDP quality control and quality assurance processes at each project phase. Aid in preparation and provide peer review of select RFQ / RFP responses including scope narrative, execution schedule, and consulting fees. Attend and participate in select client and project pursuit interviews with IID Client Leaders and Market Leader. Regularly meet with IID Market Leader to provide project status. Collaborate with Director of Operations to ensure projects are appropriately staffed and staffing forecast needs are communicated in a timely manner. Apply interpersonal communication skills to build strong working relationships, resolve conflicts, and motivate the project team. Nurture relationships with existing clients while managing client expectations. Skills + Qualifications A professional, accredited degree in architecture or engineering with 10+ years of experience, professional registration is preferred. Experience with Industrial Manufacturing projects and clients highly desired. Demonstrated experience in managing and leading multi-discipline project teams. Excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills, with the ability to complete projects on time, with precision and attention to detail. Strong working knowledge of MS Project, Microsoft Suite, Bluebeam, Deltek Vantagepoint. Demonstrated project design management and staff leadership success. Ability to travel as required to perform project work and deliver expected results. Travel is expected to be in the range of 10-15%, however flexibility will be required depending on the project phase and progress. Passion for designing places and experiences that inspire people.
