Intern, Finance and Accounting

Tang Capital Management, LLC (Tang Capital) is an investment firm with offices in San Diego and New York.

The Finance & Accounting Intern is responsible for supporting the Finance and Accounting team with a variety of projects, data entry, financial reporting, and month-end close responsibilities. This role provides the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in accounting, financial analysis, and investment operations, with direct exposure to Tang Capital's real estate tax lien certificates investment portfolio and broader asset portfolio.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assist with the month-end close process, including preparing journal entries and reconciliations under supervision
2. Create and maintain financial models to support portfolio and transaction analysis
3. Support preparation of internal financial statements and related schedules
4. Research accounting guidance and assist in determining appropriate treatment of transactions
5. Help account for public and private capital transactions
6. Manage and track cash flow between internal entities
7. Assist with treasury activities, including monitoring cash movements and maintaining records
8. Support annual financial statement audits and other compliance requests
9. Collaborate with internal teams on ad hoc projects and reporting requests
10. Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Excel and contribute to data organization and reporting
11. Execute other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Actively pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with intent to obtain CPA license
• Minimum 3.5 GPA preferred
• Strong academic foundation with coursework in accounting and/or finance
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Word, PowerPoint, and Access a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
• Interest in pursuing a career in accounting, finance, or investment management
