Internship Opportunity

Internship is a temporary assignment designed to support both Head Office and branch-level Finance and Accounting projects. Responsible for working with Finance and Accounting stakeholders to support core initiatives, improve processes, and assist with day-to-day accounting operations. This role provides hands-on exposure to finance and accounting functions within a logistics and supply chain organization, while developing analytical, organizational, and professional communication skills.

Duties & Functions

Essential:

• Support Head Office and Chicago branch Finance & Accounting projects, including process documentation, continuous improvement, and cross-functional initiatives.
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including vendor payments, invoice processing, and past-due accounts.
• Contributes to the development of a paperless payables system, including SOP creation, testing, and file organization.
• Establish, test, and maintain vendor and invoice records in SharePoint and shared drives, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
• Organize and maintain customer credit files, including spreadsheets tracking credit applications, approvals, and Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) reports; reports; and assist in reviewing D&B reports.
• Review dormant customer accounts and assist with outreach regarding current import/export activity and service needs.
• Update and maintain profit share and trading partnership information within customer profiles to ensure accurate financial and partner records.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.

Qualification Standards

Education & Experience:

• Currently pursuing a 4-year Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Junior or Senior standing preferred).
• Ability to learn to use internal accounting and financial systems (e.g., vNext).
• Proficient with Microsoft 0365 applications, including Excel, Word, and Share Point.

Physical requirements:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; frequently required to walk, stand, talk, hear, reach with hands and arms and occasionally required to sit.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
