Geriatric Psychiatric Registered Nurse

Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for elderly patients with psychiatric conditions
- Administer medications and monitor for side effects, ensuring safe and effective treatment
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans
- Provide therapeutic communication and emotional support to patients and their families
- Monitor patient progress and document clinical observations accurately
- Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, safety standards, and confidentiality policies
- Assist in crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed
Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Certification in psychiatric or mental health nursing preferred
- Experience working with geriatric populations, especially in psychiatric settings
- Strong knowledge of mental health disorders common in elderly patients
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and observational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team and handle challenging situations with professionalism
