Job Description

Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) - Outpatient Rheumatology

Location: California (In-Office, Multi-Provider Practice)

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM ( No Weekends, Zero On-Call )

Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Role:

Are you ready to escape hospital burnout, chaotic 12-hour shifts, and unpredictable call rotations? Step into a role that restores your work-life balance while utilizing your high-level clinical skills.

We are seeking a skilled, compassionate, and vigilant Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) to join our highly respected, stable rheumatology practice. Working in tandem with an experienced staff nurse, you will manage a predictable daily schedule in our comfortable 8-to-10-chair infusion center. Our patient population consists primarily of geriatric adults receiving non-chemotherapy biologics for chronic rheumatological conditions.

This rare opening is due to an unexpected leave from a beloved, 20-year staple nurse, meaning you will be stepping into a warm, supportive, and exceptionally well-run environment.

Why You'll Love This Position:

  • The Ultimate Nurse Schedule: Say goodbye to burnout. Enjoy a true 40-hour workweek with a strict daytime schedule, absolutely no weekends, and zero overnight or holiday call shifts.

  • High Safety & Clinical Support: You are never on an island. A provider (MD or PA) is always physically on-site at all times, and you will work side-by-side with an established nursing partner to handle clinical flow.

  • Predictable, Manageable Workload: The day is mapped out ahead of time based on "chair length" (ranging from 1-hour to 5-hour complex infusions). You will manage a highly predictable average of 6 to 8 infusions per day .

  • Comprehensive Paid Training: Have killer IV skills but new to complex rheumatology biologics? Don't sweat it. We provide a thorough orientation and training period to get you fully comfortable with our specific drug protocols and reaction management.

  • Unmatched Workplace Stability: A nurse staying anywhere for two decades is the ultimate green flag. You are entering a healthy, non-toxic office culture that genuinely values loyalty and treats its staff like family.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Administration: Safely administer non-chemotherapy biologic infusions and injections to adult/geriatric patients with rheumatologic conditions.

  • Vigilant Monitoring: Monitor patient vitals, maintain peripheral IV access, and manage infusion reaction protocols swiftly and decisively.

  • Strategic Time Management: Balance staggered patient arrivals, chair times (CL1 to CL5), and accurate documentation without feeling rushed or frantic.

  • Patient Advocacy & Care: Provide exceptional "chair-side manner," actively listening to patient concerns and educating them on their treatment plans and potential side effects.

  • Team Collaboration: Coordinate daily with 1-2 Physicians, 3-4 Physician Assistants, and your co-infusion nurse to ensure a seamless, low-stress clinic environment.

Requirements & Qualifications:

Required Clinical Skills:

  • Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

  • License/Certification: Active, unrestricted California RN License (with no disciplinary actions) and current BLS certification.

  • Experience: 1-2 years of clinical RN experience.

Note: New graduates are rarely considered for this autonomous role unless they possess an extensive background as an IV-certified LVN or Paramedic prior to receiving their RN.

Core Soft Skills & Preferred Attributes:

  • Preferred Backgrounds: Experience in Outpatient Infusion, ER, ICU, Pre-Op, PACU, or Day Surgery.

  • The "Chair-Side" Manner: High empathy and patience, specifically a comfort level working with geriatric patients dealing with chronic pain or mobility challenges.

  • Sharp Clinical Intuition: Deep active listening skills and the vigilance to catch subtle changes in a patient's condition during long infusions.

  • Bilingual Skills: Ability to speak Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese is a massive plus given our local community demographic.

For California Applicants:

We will consider for employment all qualified Applicants, including those with criminal histories, in a manner consistent with the requirements of applicable federal, state and local laws, including the City of Los Angeles' Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance (FCIHO), Los Angeles Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers (ULAC), The San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance (FCO) , and the California Fair Chance Act (CFCA).

This position is subject to a background check based on its job duties, which may include patient care, working with vulnerable populations, access to financial and confidential information, driving, working with heavy machinery, or working in a warehouse or laboratory environment. Due to these job duties, this position has a significant impact on the business operations and reputation, as well as the safety and well-being of individuals who may be cared for as part of the job position or who may interact with staff or clients.
