Job Description

WANTED: MASTER OF VECTORS & PUNCHLISTS

(Because “Superhero of Small-to-Medium Projects” just didn’t have the same ring to it.)

Are you the kind of design wizard who can wield CAD like a magic wand, juggle tasks like a caffeinated circus clown, and still make time to teach the new kid how to pen the perfect plant detail? If you answered “Yes” (or at least wiggled your eyebrows in excitement), we need you as our Landscape Designer !

This isn’t your ordinary desk job—expect a whirlwind of creativity, design detail wizardry, and the occasional coffee run that turns into an impromptu brainstorm session. Interested? Keep reading…

GENERAL

  • Lead and Mentor : Show off those leadership superpowers by guiding production staff and occasionally reminding them that coffee is not a suitable CAD layer name.
  • Collaborative Spirit : Conspire with senior staff, consultants, clients, and maybe even the office goldfish to ensure every project is a showstopper.

EXPERIENCE

  • 4–8 Years of professional design & management prowess (or super-secret alter ego experience—we won’t judge).
  • Degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, or Planning. (A minor in “Office Karaoke” is optional but appreciated.)

REPORTING TO

  • Principal-in-Charge (PIC) & Project Manager (aka your trusty sidekicks on this epic mission)

SKILL SETS

  1. Mission & Goals : You totally get what we’re aiming for and can hum our theme song in your sleep.
  2. Project Management : Can handle small-to-medium projects without breaking a sweat, or sub-PM on the really big stuff (with a safety net, of course).
  3. Knows When to Ask : No design or detail is an island—signal the bat light when you need senior support.
  4. Team Dynamics : Understand who does what, when, and why—like a master puzzle-solver on a healthy dose of adrenaline.
  5. Representation : Confidently speak on behalf of the firm (crown and scepter optional) in front of consultants and partners.
  6. Office Protocols : If version control and file naming conventions were a sport, you’d be MVP.
  7. Software Savvy : CAD, Adobe Suite, and maybe a little wizardry with the occasional 3D software—plus you enjoy sharing that knowledge with fresh talent.
  8. Quality Control : You’re the guardian of good design, ensuring things look sharp enough to frame and put on your mother’s fridge.
  9. Construction Docs : Familiar with specs and knows how to produce documents so good, the contractors might actually read them.
  10. Technical Guidance : With a dash of senior support, you can tackle grading, drainage, lighting, planting, and details like a champ.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Work Planning : Create and track work plans like a to-do list on steroids (color-coding optional but fun).
  2. PM Duties : Manage small-to-medium projects while keeping your cool (and your sense of humor) intact.
  3. Scope & Schedule : Keep an eagle eye on the contract, scope, schedule, goals, and budget. (Nobody likes surprise budget overages… except maybe your local coffee shop.)
  4. Design Refinement : Work with the PIC or Sr. Associate to shape designs that dazzle, or come up with new ideas that outshine the competition.
  5. Client Communication : Coordinate with client reps as directed by PM/PIC—just maybe skip the emojis in official emails. (Or do, if that’s their style.)
  6. Stakeholder Coordination : Schmooze with clients, consultants, and agencies like you’re hosting a star-studded gala.
  7. Consultant Coordination : Stay on top of consultant scopes, schedules, and deliverables, so they don’t go poof into the void.
  8. Site Visits : Participate in on-site adventures—bring sturdy shoes and your best sense of direction.
  9. Illustrative Prep : Direct and dabble in creating stunning visuals (Adobe Suite, hand sketches, interpretive dance—whatever gets the point across).
  10. Construction Docs : Oversee drafting wizardry in CAD—lines so perfect they could be in a geometry museum.
  11. Research : Lead materials and product research. (Bonus points if you discover who invented the spork along the way.)
  12. Resource Management : Ensure your team’s workload is balanced—no one likes to discover they’re double-booked after five cups of coffee.
  13. ⏲️ Deadlines & Quality : Help everyone hit the mark with time to spare—deadlines aren’t mere suggestions.
  14. Meeting Setup : Organize internal and consultant meetings—extra points if you make them fun.
  15. Flexible Support : Be ready to switch roles like a trusty Swiss Army knife: manage projects or back up another PM as sub-PM/production.

CRITICAL METRICS

  1. Professional Growth : Level up your skills like you’re starring in your own RPG (Role-Playing Game… or Real Project Grind).
  2. Goal Alignment : Actually know why you’re doing what you’re doing—trust us, it helps.
  3. PM Excellence : Rock project management with PIC support (think dynamic duo).
  4. Budget & Schedule : Keep the timeline tight and the piggy bank intact—no one wants to break it.
  5. Quality Check : Proof your own work and your teammates’—like a hawk with a red pen.
  6. Leadership & Mentorship : Teach, inspire, and occasionally dazzle younger staff with your sweet design moves.
  7. Office Initiatives : Contribute to big ideas, small ideas, and maybe start that kombucha-on-tap revolution.
