Job Title: Orientation & Mobility Specialist

Job Location: Montgomery County ESC - Regional Center

Start Date: ASAP

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience

Full/Part-Time: Full-Time

What You'll Do:

• Provide orientation and mobility (O&M) services aligned with IEP goals to promote student independence and participation in educational programs.
• Conduct activity/environmental analyses to identify barriers limiting student access and participation.
• Develop measurable, attainable, and relevant goals and objectives with benchmarks for students.
• Teach travel skills, orientation strategies, and mobility techniques to students with visual impairments.
• Provide training in the use of mobility devices, including canes, and teach transportation and navigation skills.
• Collaborate with teachers, families, and staff to explain O&M services and support educational integration.
• Implement positive behavioral interventions and supports, teaching functional skills (communication, self-regulation, socialization, independence).
• Maintain accurate records, submit timely documentation, and comply with district and MSP reporting requirements.

What You'll Bring:

• Ohio State Board of Education Pupil Services license as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist.
• National ACVREP Certification (or documentation of completion).
• Knowledge of O&M strategies, assistive devices, and educational best practices for students with visual impairments.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to high-performance standards and maintaining confidentiality.
• Satisfactory fingerprinting and criminal records check results (provided for free by MCESC!).
