Purpose of the Position The Parking Enforcement Officer provides routine work in the enforcement of University parking ordinances. The work involves responsibility for patrolling University property and obtaining compliance with parking ordinances through the issuance of tickets and citations for violations. The work also involves routine safety patrols and surveillance at special events. The position also involves office work as necessary, with extensive customer interaction. Duties / Responsibilities Comply with oral and written rules, regulations, guidelines and procedures of the UAH Parking Services Department and the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Interpret and explain Parking Regulations to the public and ensures consistent management. Patrol parking lots, garages, and streets, on foot or in a vehicle, enforcing the UAH Parking Rules and Regulations. Issue citations for parking violations. Operate body camera, two-way radio, portable tablet, and printer. Provide parking management in designated campus areas and inspects for matching decals and hang tags in these designated areas. Regular communication with Parking Services concerning daily logs, paperwork or supporting information regarding citations. Respond promptly and professionally to parking-related requests for assistance and maintenance. Engage with drivers to provide information and guidance. Utilize positive and professional communication techniques when interacting with the public. Articulate directional information to visitors, campus community, and general public. Uphold Parking Services Calendar of Events Parking Schedule. Collaborate with the Parking Services Office during peak operating times. Provide customer service, administrative and clerical support when needed. Minimum Requirements High School diploma or equivalent. Ability to walk great distances in sometimes extreme weather and climate conditions. Must have and maintain a clean driving record. Ability to pass a drug screen. Ability to pass a fingerprint background check and investigation. Ability to pass a medical physical exam. Ability to de-escalate conflict. Ability to provide quality customer service. Experience with data entry, Microsoft Office, Word, Spreadsheet, and Excel. U.S. citizenship is required. Desired Qualifications Previous experience in parking enforcement is desired.
