Job Title: S.E.E. Assistant Teacher

DSL Team: SEE Summer Education Enrichment

Reports to: Early Education Support Manager

Status: Seasonal

Hours: FT 35-40 hours per week (8:30-3:00 M-F)

  • June 2 - 5 Training/Planning
  • June 8 - 26 Session 1
  • July 6 - 24 Session 2

Pay: $15.90

Overview:

DSL's Assistant SEE Teacher works with school-age children who have a diagnosis of Down syndrome to

increase developmental, social, and cognitive skill levels. They support, plan, lead and manage

educational classroom activities, and social experiences with the lead teacher, school-age manager, and

contracted behaviorist.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Plan with the teacher, manage educational activities, and social experiences for 6-9 students

Duties:

  • Assist the lead teacher with planning and managing educational classroom activities and social
  • experiences for 8-10 students with the support of the lead teacher.
  • Facilitate experiences to increase participation and provide safety.
  • Assist the teacher with daily notes for each student.
  • Provide personal assistance for students, as needed, to maintain their health, safety, and welfare.
  • With the guidance of the lead teacher and contracted behaviorist, provide positive behavioral
  • interventions to assist students in achieving success.
  • Encourage self-advocacy for students to promote independence.

Qualifications: Certifications, Education, Experience, and Skills

  • A minimum of a high school diploma.
  • At least one (1) year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to respectfully and effectively communicate participant information to behaviorists and case managers
